GEAR:
The Don Fury Studio is a predominantly analog environment, with stand-alone hard disk recorders.
The front-end gear is analog hardware - TUBE TECH LCA-2A and UNIVERSAL AUDIO 1176 compressors, and 8 TL AUDIO Valve (Tube) channels combine with the 44 input AMEK BIG analog console in vivid sound.
The studio is well sized with a 13 foot ceiling. Drums, vocals, horns and other acoustic instruments record nicely.
There's a MESA Triple Rectifier, MARSHALL Triple Super Lead, YAMAHA S90Es Keyboard with excellent grand pianos and half damper pedal, and a veteran LUDWIG studio drum kit.
We track to the ALESIS HD24, 24bit/24track hard disk recorder. The HD24 is handy for quick edits on drums and vocals, and it's fast.
The mix is analog, on the BIG, and automated. The BIG has 40 Vitual Dynamics channels for compression, expansion and more. The mix deck is the ALESIS MASTERLINK, allowing mix options at 16 and 24 bit word lengths.
